Option 3: Child Restraint Fitting Education Sessions
This 2-hour session is designed for community organisations. Held at your organisation’s premises, the session provides staff with sufficient knowledge to transport children in vehicles legally and safely. The session involves 45 minutes theory component covering why we need child car restraints, importance of correctly installing and adjusting them for each child, overview of legislation and standards and then a 1 hour and 15 minute practical component giving the participants the opportunity to select, adjust and install the restraints in vehicles regularly used by the organisation. NB. This workshop does not give you a qualification.
The cost is $450 for the session (maximum of 10 participants per session).
Kidsafe Victoria has received funding from the VicRoads Community Road Safety Grants Program to subsidise the cost of a number of these sessions. Subsidised sessions are dependant on availability at the time of booking.
We can provide certificates of participation for each of the staff members participating in the session. Usually what we recommend is that if we run this workshop for your staff, that you have at least one staff member trained in the Type 1 Fitter qualification so that they can provide ongoing support to the staff after the session.
